Week 4- Verse

Week 4

I sense a kindred nature to my own:
  Thus speaks perceptive feeling
  As in the sun-illuminated world
  It merges with the floods of light;
  To thinking's clarity
  My feeling would give warmth
  And firmly bind as one
The human being and the world.

                    -Rudolf Steiner

Week 3- Verse

Thus to the World-All speaks,
In self-forgetfulness
And mindful of its primal state,
The growing human I:
In you, if I can free myself
From fetters of my selfhood,
I fathom my essential being.

-Rudolf Steiner
English translation by Ruth and Hans Pusch

Week 2 Verse

  Out in the sense-world's glory
The power of thought gives up
    its separate being,
  And spirit worlds discover
  Again their human offspring,
  Who germinates in them
  But in itself must find
  The fruit of soul.
                          -Rudolf Steiner
English translation by Ruth and Hans Pusch

Almost Done...Cow and Goat

I have had so much fun with these two art canvases  The raw umber and burnt umber are colors I have fallen in love with.  I still have words to put on the the goat picture but it's all coming along.  Fun!

The Messy Lovable, Lovely Life

The Messy Lovable Lovely Life is just that!  You take a look at the imperfection of what's in front of you.  You  love it, look at it, relish it or.... leave it if you have to pick up the kids or go put in another load of laundry.  And then, at some point it looks like this:  Red Alert!

Yikes! How did it get this way?  ... One stop here, grab something there, pick up this, add a little of that ...and before you know it, too much is taken in while not taking other stuff out.  And it all looks a little out of place.

What makes this messy life lovable and lovely is the Rule of Ten.  In just 60 seconds 10 small things can be put back in order.  A bit of trash here, the rubber band goes back over there, salt in the cupboard, scissors back in the drawer. If you're on the run, just do ten things and go.  There is always a little time to order this and straighten that.  It doesn't keep it all meticulously clean, but until life is less full of activities, events, kids, emails, school and work...it keeps the mess manageable and life lovable and lovely!

Week 1 Verse -Happy Easter

  When out of world-wide spaces
The sun speaks to the human mind,
And gladness from the depths of soul
Becomes, in seeing, one with light,
Then rising from the sheath of self,
Thoughts soar to distances of space
  And dimly bind
The human being to the spirit's life.
                    by Rudolf Steiner
English translation by Ruth and Hans Pusch

This cow was painted on a 10x10 wood board using acrylics.  The butterfly has some acrylic ink and the flowers below are done with stamping and then adding acrylic paint to fill out the color.  I really had so much fun working on wood!

This goat is similar...10X10 wood with acrylic paint, permanent markers, stamps and papers.  These two wood pieces have a real outdoor feel to them.  Perfect for yard art!
